Robinson Crusoe plot

"Just because you're stranded... doesn't mean you can't make some friends."

Parrot Tuesday lives with his animal friends on a paradise island where they lack nothing. Yet he dreams of discovering the rest of the world. After a violent storm, a strange creature washes ashore on the island: Robinson Crusoe. Tuesday is overjoyed with the newcomer, who knows, this may be his chance to get off the island and discover new places. Robinson desperately needs the animals to survive on the island and that is not easy in the beginning, because they don't speak 'human'. Slowly but surely, Robinson and the animals learn to live together until one day two evil cats want to take over the island. A thrilling battle ensues in which Robinson and his friends will discover the power of friendship.

Robinson Crusoe is a film that limps between two thoughts. On the one hand, the film is very suitable for young children, perfectly tailored for the little ones among us. For adults, I find the film less suitable because the story is rather poor. Quite disappointing even at times. Especially because visually it certainly does not look out of place with a more expensive American version.

Except for the stranded unfortunate, the story has very little to do with Robinson Crusoe. Instead, you get a colorful zoo and a few psychotic cats. It is funny at times, but it is not original or inventive at all. Too bad the plot gets little development, because the film had potential as a whole. Ultimately a film that will quickly disappear into the background ...

Cheerful, atmospheric, modest and slow. Actually the story and its development are insufficient. But technically well made, I was impressed by the animations. Therefore rounded to a sufficient *3.0

Original retelling of 'Robinson Crusoe' tells much of the adventure from the perspective of the animals on the island where Robinson [Yuri Lowenthal] tries to survive after a shipwreck with his faithful dog Aynsley [Doug Stone]. The animals initially try to chase Robinson away, but parrot Max [David Howard] thinks Robinson might be able to help him get off the island and see more of the world. The real danger comes from the wily cat May [Debi Tinsley] who, together with the tomcat Mal [Jeff Doucette], devises a cunning plan to gain control of the island. The story unfolds with fits and starts here and there, but this European animated film (originally spoken in German) has a high cuteness factor, a sharp sense of language and a few excellent action scenes that make it easy to digest, especially for the younger target audience.
