The Fear plot

"He's whatever scares you the most"

A group of people go away for a weekend and meet in a bungalow for their anxiety therapy. During their session, they must tell their worst fear to the wooden puppet Morty. But when Morty suddenly comes to life, he decides to use this knowledge against them and gruesomely murder everyone present one by one.

Morty, the wooden puppet. The video cover screams loud and clear that Michael, Pinhead, Freddy, and Jason better watch out, because The Fear introduces the newest hero to the horror film world. Funny, because this worthless wooden puppet, Morty, can't even make a dent in a stick of butter. A truly dull and incredibly tedious film. Logic and suspense are nowhere to be found, and the villain doesn't really impress you. You might just get a splinter from it.

0.5 stars.

A very simple, unsensational horror thriller with a fundamentally good concept, but rather amateurishly executed by director Vincent Robert in what was his only feature film at the helm. Morty's makeup is above average, and he's truly convincing. Unfortunately, the moments where he springs into action are limited (despite the unique nature of this creature), and the poor cinematography doesn't help the individual's well-being. The lighting (far too clear) is a particular negative, but the location choices and camerawork are equally poor. The Fear occasionally has a more noteworthy moment, though this is mainly due to the absurdity of the situation (Screaming for help loudly in a low-slung car without fences or rails, traveling at a speed of no more than 10 kilometers per hour, for example). The finale picks up the pace somewhat, but is also so ridiculously elaborated that little remains. What remains is a well-conceived concept and a few good scenes.
