La Séparation plot
Pierre and Anne live in Paris with their 2-year-old son Louis. One evening at the cinema, Pierre wants to hold Anne's hand, but she refuses. With this moment begins the story of a couple's breakup, with the gulf between the two slowly widening. One evening Anne tells that she is in love with another man, Pierre's first reaction is one of resignation and acceptance. But the more he thinks about it, the more he realizes that an irreversible process is taking place, over which he cannot influence. This powerlessness makes him distraught and he deteriorates further and further.
