The Alligator People plot
"Nerve-shattering terror!"
A newlywed couple goes on their honeymoon by train, but already at the first station the man gets out and disappears without a trace. The woman desperately searches for her missing husband and discovers him years later on a farm in the south of the US. Unfortunately, the man was seriously ill and because he was given the wrong medication, he has now turned into a crocodile.

Nice monster movie.
Atmospheric and exciting, yet rather dated in terms of SFX. The hilarious low point in that context is, of course, the transformation.
Still, that doesn't matter all that much, because when watching these kinds of obscure films, you should be able to transport yourself back to the era of 50 years ago. Besides, the effects aren't that distracting anyway, because the film is very easy to digest. It's not going to be anything but excellent, unfortunately.
The Fly is better, but this is still fun.

Another entertaining fifties "horror-light".
Excellent in terms of atmosphere, setting and structure of the story.
I actually think the dated special effects suit it well, and the makeup isn't that bad.
Beverly Garland is not only beautiful, but she also plays her role perfectly and is also a wonderful scream queen.
The scenes with real alligators are quite impressive.

To be honest, I didn't think this was all that bad. An original concept. Well, the result after the transformation looked a bit carnival-like. And sometimes the ideas were a bit ridiculous (Cobalt 60 is highly radioactive. No problem. Let's put on some rubber gloves). But still, an admirable film for its time period.
