El Alamein - La Linea del Fuoco plot
El Alamein, Egypt - October 1942. The British Eighth Army under General Montgomery forces the Axis forces under General Rommel to withdraw from Egypt and Libya. It is the first major defeat of the Germans in World War II. The Italians, allies of the Germans, are brave, but poorly armed. They belong to the crown of the Italian army, but are fighting a losing battle for an ally who treats them with contempt. After eleven days of terrible fighting, 25,000 are dead and 30,000 prisoners of war. The film follows the lives of frontline soldiers. A story of men who tried to survive on a ration of half a glass of contaminated water - while battling the dysentery. Of men who defended their country far from home. Of little nameless heroes who died in the forgotten sands of the Egyptian desert.
