Showbiz entrepreneur Max O'Hara is searching for fancy decorations for his nightclub in Africa when he meets Joseph Young, a huge monkey. Joe has a heart of gold, thanks in part to his sweet owner Jill. Against his better judgment, Jill has Joe travel with him to the US where they will act together as a nightclub attraction. They are an immediate success. Unfortunately, things don't go as planned, and when the hapless Joe is bullied at night, he breaks out and sets out on a devastating tour of the city.
