Million Dollar Legs plot

"It's Insane -- It's Joyous"

The fictional country of Klopstokia is in dire need of money. The president is under heavy pressure from his cabinet. Fortunately for him, a US representative falls for his daughter in brushes. After seeing how super athletic the people of Klopstokia are (they can even jump over houses), he comes up with the idea of having Klopstokia participate in the Olympic Games in Los Angeles to put the country on the map and to get international money. They seem invincible until a cabinet spy pits the team against each other.

A crazy comedy and I loved every minute of it. Nice story that none other than Joseph L. Mankiewicz co-wrote and excellently portrayed by Edward Cline (Buster Keaton and WC Fields habitué). WC Fields gets the main credits, but looking at screen time, I'm not sure he actually got the lead. That honor probably goes to Jack Oakie. Very nice gags in this video - not that I always roar with laughter but it's just fun - and also some pre code innuendo. Lyda Roberti takes care of the latter as a blonde seductress in the role of Mata Machree (probably a reference to Mata Hari).

Just like International House (1933) and Never Give a Sucker an Even Break (1941) this is a WC Fields comedy with a fairly weird content, and that only adds to the viewing pleasure for me. The weirder the better, in the case of WC Field's comedies.

all pretty lame , there is not much to laugh about because the jokes are so childish and the story just does not captivate .
