Flawless plot
The extravagant transsexual 'Busty Rusty' and the retired police officer Walt Koontz live opposite each other in the same New York apartment building. The ultra-masculine ex-cop is annoyed by the guy in his dress with his singing group of friends, which consists of equally extroverted cousins. Suffering from a stroke, a doctor advises Koontz to take singing lessons to restore his ability to speak. The only singing teacher who lives nearby is his singing neighbor so hated.

Nice movie. Hoffman and De Niro both play very well and there is also a nice direction by Schumacher who with 8mm and this film makes up for screwing up the Batman franchise quite well 
The story on the other hand is a bit predictable here and there but the acting performances of both protagonists compensate for that... 3,5

Mediocre.
Unbalanced film, especially due to the mix of different themes and genres. Should Flawless be a light-hearted drama or can it be a bit more raw by involving the crime plot? I have no idea, it's neither. Throughout a film it all remains quite flat. Philip Seymour Hoffman's performance doesn't go much further than being a very outspoken, grumpy character. Robert De Niro, in turn, seems to be looking for inspiration from his previous performance in Awakenings. Only that movie is a lot better.

Mediocre film about a man who has had a stroke and gets singing lessons from the neighbor. Not exactly Robert DeNiro's best role. His co-star (Philip Seymour Hoffman) does a much better job. The course of the relationship between the two is not only quite predictable but also unbelievably worked out. A few nice scenes, and therefore just 2.5 stars.
