After 6 years there was a sequel to the very successful The Man from Snowy River and this sequel was made with just as much love. Love for horses that is. Tom Burlinson, who was not very familiar with horses before his role in the first film, once again gives a very good role and once again does all the 'stunts' himself. Sigrid Thornton also does a great job as his girlfriend. It was of course difficult, if not impossible, to find a good replacement for Kirk Douglas, but Brian Dennehy is not doing so badly. In addition, the basis itself was very good, because filming was done at exactly the same locations as the predecessor and the same beautiful surroundings (with its wild horses) are beautifully depicted. A touch of romance here, a bit of misfortune there and a happier ending, in my opinion, make this an excellent sequel to what can perhaps be called an Australian classic.

Saw the first Snowy River last month, now watched the sequel of this Australian classic. Certainly of decent quality I must say. All scenes with the horses in action are of special beauty, and the scenic images also ensure that this is a film that you will enjoy watching. The duo Burlinson - Thornton return in the leading role, but Kirk Douglas is replaced here by Brian Dennehy as Jessica's father. Jim Craig became a horse breeder in the first film, now he has to get his girl on the mountain; he is opposed by the petulant father who still sees nothing in Craig, and a filthy rich arrogant admirer.

I admit, the magic of the first film is somewhat lost because there is a bit more sappy romance in it. The rise story and Kirk Douglas gave the first film a lot of prestige; Here it all comes out less strongly. However, this one remains highly recommended for fans of Disney family films because it is reminiscent of those old 1950s Disney films.
