As a Tintin fan I had missed this one all these years (I've read the book of this once, but it was a long time ago).

A little more aimed at a youthful audience than the albums.

Captain Haddock holds back on curses (a few times the thousand bombs and grenades).

Still a nice extra on the official albums and a bit less static than those other Tintin animations.

Story is pretty okay.

There have been better animations of Tintin before and yet it still manages to keep the atmosphere of the comics. The story lends itself to making a feature length film. The well-known characters from the series take on a Blofeld look-a-like in a James Bond story. However, not made by Hergé himself. Which immediately explains that there are better stories of Tintin. Which isn't to say it's bad. Far from. The animation is quite detailed at times and then too simple. Probably depends on the budget as well. The downside is the lack of Hergé's inspiration (misses some personality) and the songs are of lesser quality.

Awesome movie! As usual very underrated. I am a big Tintin fan and still think this is the best Tintin film. Hergé's student Bob de Moor taught those Belvision Animators how to draw like this. Because the drawing style of the Tintin films from the 50's and early 60's seems like nothing. Like all Belvision movies but this is the best. Good Animation Beautiful backgrounds. Good story. Very very good music. Both the Dutch and French voices are good. Top movie!
