"Evil Rises."

Ginger and Brigitte Fitzgerald no longer live in the desolate suburbs of Montreal. In fact, Ginger and Brigitte are now somewhere in Canada around 1815. After the death of their parents, they arrive at a fortress that is being defended by a handful of men against werewolves. Of course the inevitable happens and one of the girls is bitten. Is the sisterly love stronger than the werewolf's curse?

Surprisingly good and exciting sequel

This is the last installment in the series and I really enjoyed it.

This last part is again exciting and has a lot of atmosphere.

When I saw part 2 I was captivated by the power of these films.

And those are the characters and the story as far as I'm concerned.

So now I can report with pleasure that I understand the choices of the sisters better.

Of course it's about love, just as much as these movies are made with love

The first Ginger Snaps turned out to be a pretty nice surprise at the time, with the cynical, somewhat morbid sisters Ginger and Brigitte rolling into the werewolf farm. Part two was already a lot less enjoyable, and that saved me a bit from looking up this third part. But here it is anyway: Ginger Snaps Back: The Beginning. As the title suggests, it is a prequel to the earlier Ginger Snaps. And not just a little bit; while the once again charming Ginger and Brigitte do indeed play the two central roles, the entire film is set in a completely different location in a completely different era. We follow the sisters on a journey through dark Canadian forests, with Indians, trappers and legends about the Wendigo, local man-eating monsters.

As part three of the trilogy it doesn't have much added value, but as a standalone film it is still quite reasonable. The arctic setting in large forests is a plus anyway, and although I found the details of the story a bit muddled (although the common thread about werewolves/Wendigos threatening both the Indians and the trappers is clear), the film still manages to get a bit of atmosphere. a sufficient one. Besides the setting, the film looks quite nice, not only thanks to Ginger and Brigitte, but there is also quite some decent looking blood and gore. Also slightly lighter in tone than the second film, fortunately, which fits better with the type of pop-horror that this series is after all. I had a good time anyway.

Well... special setting, beautiful sets, beautiful photography, and the cold is almost palpable, but no matter how good it all is and how intriguing the setting is, at some point the cake is finished and the complications of the The plot adds little to the original, so this film doesn't really have much to do with the original. The sisters here are certainly not goths, not even nineteenth-century ones, and why The beginning – are the sisters here perhaps ancestors who, unfortunately, are confronted with the same monster as their descendants? (By the way, that monster continues to look bad, just like the wigs of the commander of the fort and his son.) Not the best ending to a trilogy that started so great (and which, in my opinion, could have left it with that first part. ).
