Humanoids from the deep with a poster that speaks volumes. They first asked Joe Dante to direct the film, who had recently made Piranha. Then Barbara Peeters, one of the few women in the genre at the time. The producer's vision was clear: 'kill the man and rape the women'. Because Barbara Peeters did not go far enough with the latter, in his opinion, the assistant director was allowed to film a few new explicit scenes. It's part of the genre (and the spirit of the times), isn't it? A film to score at the box office, with a low budget, some monsters and the necessary naked women. Because of those extra scenes, many people who worked on the film were not very satisfied and wanted to distance themselves from the film after the end result.

The result is clearly pulp, but even for this genre it is still doable. If you are a fan of the genre. The advantage is that it is well realized that once 'evil' is known, you cannot work with the tension like that. Then let's get straight to the point. And the kills are numerous. You don't have much time to get to know the characters and, mainly because of unknown actors, it is usually not obvious who will be alive at the end. While with many other horror films you can almost predict the order.

Wonderful cult film that gives what fans can expect. The ending is a bit cheesy and a real ripoff. The writer of Alien was clearly not amused.

Simple Creature Feature with Fat Gore & lots of Monsters in the end!

I feel like the film takes a very long time to portray the monster, while this isn't too bad considering the timeline, but the film brings the tension in such a boring way that it doesn't come across and just makes me think: "Just show the monster." because that might at least make it a little more interesting."

The monsters kill men and rape women...dry angle but morbidly quite funny...80's eh!

These types of B-movies (nothing negative about that) can be improved by striking and fun/funny acting, which is rarely the case in Humanoids... unfortunately!

The last 20 minutes are cool! Lots of action and lots of monsters!

Very cool ending! Gore!!!!!

☆2.5

PS I understand the underlying messages in the story, but that doesn't interest me as much with these types of films!
