De Tussentijd plot
Psychological thriller in which relatives do not resign themselves to the loss of their loved ones. Marina faces a difficult choice when her father deteriorates after a massive heart attack. Victor, the attending physician, suggests euthanasia. Unbeknownst to her boyfriend and her mother, Marina agrees to the proposal. After his death, Marina is called by her father. Because no one believes this, she becomes increasingly estranged from her family. She only finds support and understanding with Victor. He believes in an 'in between': the time in which someone who dies an unnatural death can contact the person who has looked the dying person in the eye. Marina draws more and more towards Victor, but it is unclear whether he is only acting out of amicable motives.
