It's 1920 and Richard Greener is being shot at and intimidated for being the first black person to live in the area. It is not the first encounter of this nature for him. When he served as the first black at West Point in 1880, he was assaulted, tied up and accused of doing so himself. He even had to prove his innocence in military court. Despite the fact that he couldn't possibly have done it, it was a very difficult thing.
