Niet Tevergeefs plot

August 1944. People in hiding live in the farm of the old Alting and his daughter; a Jewish banker with his wife, a student and a communist typographer. When the misery of the occupation on Mad Tuesday seems to be coming to an end, the unanimity of this heterogeneous group is broken: the political differences suddenly become sharp and people are already talking about another war. Then it turns out that the toughest test is yet to come: the hunger winter is over the land.
