La Petite Vendeuse de Soleil plot
When Sili, a ten-year-old girl, decides to start selling newspapers in Dakar, the boys do not accept this; it is their territory after all. However, Sili is successful: the first day someone buys all her newspapers and gives her a hefty amount. No one believes she made the money honestly. She is arrested by the police, but in the end they let her go. With the money earned, Sili buys a parasol for her blind grandmother. She gives the rest to lepers. The following days, Sili is again attacked by the other newspaper sellers, who do not wish her the success. She eventually befriends one of them.
