One evening Cheryl Draper accidentally sees a woman being murdered by a man in the bedroom across the street. Cheryl calls the police, but when they arrive, the corpse is gone and the killer claims he is innocent. The police believe him and he can even convince them that Cheryl is mentally confused. Therefore, she is admitted to a psychiatric hospital for an examination. Inspector Mathews manages to get her out of there, however, unaware that the killer is ready to silence Cheryl forever...
