Gosh Bizarre!! I believe Herzog makes more disturbing films. Aguirre, der Zorn Gottes is his best-known work and I thought it was good, but Auch Zwerge Haben Klein Angefangen leaves me with mixed feelings. Nice and original experiment, that's for sure, but this behavioral study doesn't offer anything more. The dwarves behave more and more extremely and meanly towards everything and everyone and that's it. I didn't find it really funny, although the last scene with the pooping camel and that annoyingly laughing dwarf ended up being very infectiously funny.

Great production by the way, many times I thought 'phew that one of those dwarfs wasn't injured'. I now also read that it almost went wrong a few times with the car driving around and the flower fire scene. I also wonder why this film arouses so little controversy, while another dwarf film, Terror of Tiny Town, The (1938) does. In any case, Herzog keeps the film viewer entertained with films like this and I plan to see more of him .

This is a fairly bizarre film by Werner Herzog. What we see is especially bizarre. Because although the genre here indicates that it is drama with a bit of horror, I found it very comical to watch, especially at times.

It's not really about anything, but somehow it fascinated me. We see a gang of out-of-control dwarfs, who are trying to stir things up, are clearly angry and who don't seem to care about anything. Herzog films it in a beautiful way and captures what the dwarfs do. Although the whole thing has a repetitive factor at times, I was not bored for a second. Some dwarves are quite annoying, but I often found that Hombre with his laugh and sounds very funny. That head of his is really priceless at times.

I don't think it's really top cinema, it's just a bit too weak for that. But anyone who sees a special cult-like film with shocking scenes can definitely give it a try. Only animal lovers should skip this, because those friendly creatures can sometimes be quite annoying.

3.5*

WTF was this? A gang of anarchist dwarves who are causing havoc and have escaped from the institution. In most cases you can also attribute Down syndrome. A nice scene here and there, such as with that car. And that constant giggling in high pitched voices. Well, after a while you also want them to shut up.

The biggest blemish on the film was the animal suffering you saw. Nauseating at times. And that's just for fun. You would almost have hoped that one ended up under that car.

No, Herzog, you wouldn't get away with it today... I don't want to waste any more words on it.
