Catherine Frot received a César for her performance. Rightly so, because this versatile actress can easily put her foot next to Meryl Streep from "Florence Foster Jenkins" and André Marcon is much more credible than Hugh Grant, as the husband who first out of self-interest, then out of concern for his wife, does not want to tell her the truth.
A solid film about the well-known theme of the art-obsessed rich lady who imagined herself to have a singing talent, and although one can sometimes laugh about that "talent", the event is rightly a drama.
Good performances, dialogues, sets and costuming.
Moderate rating, I think. The distinction US - France ...?

In 1920, Baroness Marguerite Dumont [Catherine Frot] is the patron of the 'Amadeus Circle', a group of opera lovers who organise benefit concerts, the proceeds of which go to war orphans. Marguerite herself takes part in every concert, but has one problem: she can't sing at all and no one wants or dares to tell her. In fact, she receives standing ovations and an invitation to make her official opera debut in Paris. Froth is excellent in the title role, but the screenplay by Gianolli and Marcia Romano revolves entirely around that one central joke, while the basic premise lends itself perfectly to a satire on class society or a reflection on the question of who or what determines what "beautiful" music is. A year later, Stephen Frears made the much better Florence Foster Jenkins (with Meryl Streep) based on the same premise.
