The quality of the film and the special effects certainly pale in comparison to today's films, but that's understandable.

The story isn't all that great either, but I'll take that into the bargain.

But the bad dialogue, useless time-filling and weak acting on the other hand...

Our Supergirl (Helen Slater) didn't always do so well either, but luckily she was still beautiful to watch

It's all a bit childish, though I don't think I'd have liked it as a child either. But I can understand why it was entertaining at the time

Good/nice superhero movie.

I really don't care for movies where Christopher Reeve floats around in a suit.

Around the beginning, in the first scenes when Supergirl jumps out of the water, it looks decent. When she's flying, it wasn't particularly good/spectacular, but I didn't think it looked as hilarious as some 80s movies. I was also surprised by some of the beautiful nature shots in here.

A good 80s pulp that's not bad at all. I think I prefer this one to Superman with Reeve, so 3.5.

It also reminded me a bit of Wonder Woman.

I don't understand why they think the movie is so bad. I've seen movies about much worse superheroes and thought they were great. I really enjoyed that movie, for the first time they've adapted a Supergirl comic. Helen Slater is perfect, she plays her really well, though she's perhaps less well-known than Faye Dunaway and Peter O'Toole, who have long since made their names in film. There's some comedy in the beginning, but not all of it, because from the very first time she has her powers, she has to fight evil—not a superhero or some enemy, but something invisible: evil, a demon. And only because a woman is jealous because she can't get that man. Yet, she fights with all her strength and courage. No, I think it's unfair that they're tearing it down. Of course, something like that will never make it to the Oscars, but still, a solid 5 for me.
