Porridge plot

"Fletcher's inside story - even funnier as a film"

Fletcher and Lennie are two inmates who want to serve their sentences in comfort. Unfortunately for them, they are dragged into an escape attempt, which is led by Mr. Grouty gets settled. mr. Grouty is also a prisoner, but in fact he is in control of the prison walls. During an organized soccer game between inmates and so-called celebrities, one of the inmates escapes, taking Fletcher and Lennie with him, as they are witnesses to what happened. To avoid getting into even bigger trouble, Fletcher and Lennie must now try to break into the prison undetected again.

I had quite a good time with this. It's just a matter of smiling for the humor, but the grimly ironic and very British atmosphere is very well captured. I had never actually seen anything of Barker before, but he is extremely suitable for this role.

I actually also wanted to note that this film is quite similar to the British comedy series of that era. Now I read that there was actually a series that preceded it...

It's really nice that Gordon Kaye (René from Allo Allo) has a small supporting role here.
