Suspenseless slasher.

The way slasher flourished in the 1980s has not been seen in a decade. On the assembly line and often without any decent plot. This is also the case in this flick, where motives and elaboration are out of the question.

Not that it matters much as the ride is entertaining enough. Although the viewing turns out to be more interesting because of some famous supporting roles than because of the suspense. Because of the high degree of predictability, this is hard to find.

Well shot with a nice speed, but it all has little left. The psycho in particular is insufficiently creepy.

Reasonable.

Typical slasher from that period, about a serial killer who targets brides-to-be. Clearly gets the mustard at Halloween, you just have to listen to the music. The presence of a young Tom Hanks may be yet another motivation to see this thriller. Despite a strong intro scene in a cinema, there is unfortunately little else to experience.

Of course, as an actor you have to start somewhere. And for Tom Hanks it started in this little slasher from the days when the animals still spoke. It is clear that this video followed in the footsteps of Halloween. This time it's not the babysitters who have to suffer, but the brides-to-be. Visually inspired at times by Halloween (the killer popping up from a blurry background, or glaring at the street side) and the musical motif also clearly resembles Carpenter. However, the killer looks anything but enigmatic with that crazy look in the eye. The lack of mystery detracts somewhat.

Story-wise very simple as is usually the case in such films. Definitely a strong intro to the cinema story (and the inspiration for Scream 2). Afterwards it was not clear to me why some people had to go (the prof and his mistress) because that transcended the brides. But the killer is crazy, so maybe that's enough for a disguise.
In terms of gore, it was very modest, especially with a focus on suspense. That's ok for me because the exciting moments were there. The final scene is predictable yet fun.
