Just Our Heart plot
At its heart are individuals grappling with loss, ranging from the death of a parent to ecological grief: two Belgian siblings, participants in experimental ayahuasca research, a former biologist, a Bolivian-born woman of indigenous descent, and Nevejan herself. As collective rites of passage rapidly disappear in contemporary society, the film reflects on how to navigate despair in uncertain times. Interspersed with metaphorical images of a raft with no clear destination and accompanied by ethereal music, “Just Our Heart” tackles a taboo subject by creating space for perspectives from the fringes of science.
