"You can't unsee it."
A woman works as a moderator, assessing online videos for violent and offensive content. She herself is still struggling with trauma. One day, she stumbles upon a group recreating the murders from a snuff film. She tries to determine if these images are real, knowing that in this digital age, misleading information dominates the internet.

Faces of Death was quite an entertaining movie. Not entirely in line with what you used to see, but it certainly has elements.

I actually quite liked having the kills from the original film reconstructed; I never really cared much for the original (a bit pulp, to be honest), so for that reason I'm not exactly thrilled by it, but it is reasonably original and the killer is evil enough. I actually like the girl the least; she starts out as a decisive aunt but gradually becomes more and more of a silly goose. Entertaining, but not much more than that.

Mediocre horror film. The somewhat socially critical story isn't particularly special, but the reference to the original Faces of Death makes it somewhat funny. The execution is mixed. The beginning is okay and has a reasonable build-up. However, the film somehow lacks a grim, fitting atmosphere. Apart from the bloody scenes, it doesn't feel like a real genre film. Some frivolous scenes also detract from the film. But the film does feature a few suspenseful scenes. Feirrera doesn't do a bad job. A nice debut for Charlie XCX. 3.0
