A quiet film that is easy to watch. I saw this after having read the book. The book is much more detailed and beautiful, so I would definitely read that one (first?) if you have the chance. Because of this, I gave the film a lower rating. The film feels so rushed in 90 minutes compared to a 640-page book. It is a shame, though, that the ending of the film deviates so much from the book; in my opinion, that could have been handled differently.

The book also describes more clearly why the title is 'All the Blue in the Sky'... And initially, that doesn't have directly to do with Emile himself, but with details you don't see in the film... namely that Joanne's young son always looked at the blue sky and could always entertain himself with it for hours, and Emile later exhibited that same tendency to gaze. In the book, Joanne paints a great deal, and there, too, a painting with a blue sky serves as a reference to the title. . Of course, you can also interpret the title differently, as it emphasizes freedom and Emile's emotional journey.
