On the night an exceptionally powerful solar storm hits the Netherlands, the paths of two young women cross. The tenacious ambulance driver Alima and the student Bobje, fleeing behind lies, try to find a way through this apocalyptic night. Around 5:00 AM tonight, the Netherlands is hit by a solar storm. Teenager Bobje [Romy Gevers] is partying with her friends, anticipating the moment she can reveal a big secret. Paramedic Alima [Adanna Unigwe] is on the night shift with colleague John [Jip Van Den Dool]. These storylines converge predictably in the denouement. This rather uncompelling psychological drama also suffers from a lack of budget to paint a realistic picture of a city in crisis.

The idea is quite nice, and I'm a fan of these kinds of films without a real plot, where you mainly follow a few people. For a while, the film seems to be heading in the right direction, but ultimately focuses on less interesting parts and loses direction towards the end, mainly because it tries to create tension while lacking urgency. I also wondered what the problem was at times. There's supposed to be a sense of alienation with that ambulance through the empty city, but I mostly thought: just drive to the hospital? Visually it's still okay, and the length is also fine. 2.5 stars.
