A mediocre film in which the family finds itself in trouble again when confronted with their past. This sequel is simply more of the same. While the first installment felt somewhat fresh, this one feels less so. Not bad, but 3.0 stars would be a bit too much.

The Family Plan

Dan Morgan tries to have a quiet family holiday in London, but is drawn back into his old life as a hitman when someone from his past resurfaces.

I barely remember anything about the first installment (usually not a good sign), even though I gave it 3 stars at the time. This sequel scores half a star lower. The story is simple, unoriginal, and rather absurdly executed. Visually, the film is well-made; the Christmas setting and the family dynamics, in particular, give it a certain charm. Despite this, the film fails to impress. The action seems implausible and doesn't make much of an impression. Every now and then, the film managed to raise a small smile, but the humor is also largely subpar.

In short, this second part adds little and feels mainly like an unnecessary sequel.

A routine sequel sees Wahlberg and Monaghan return with archetypal children (a loser, a sassy one, and a funny one) with chases that more seasoned filmgoers have seen many times before. Originality is therefore hard to come by when Dan and Jessica face off against Dan's brother [Kit Harington].
