Roofman plot

"Based on actual events. And terrible decisions."

Jeffrey Manchester is a former military man who robbed dozens of McDonald’s restaurants across the U.S. in the late 1990s. His string of robberies—reportedly between the ages of 40 and 60—took a bizarre turn when he moved into a Toys “R” Us in Charlotte, where he lived undetected for months. He survived on baby formula and snacks, using a bicycle for after-hours exercise.

It’s entertaining from start to finish. The fact that it’s based on a true story adds another layer of intrigue, and what could have easily been a simple hide-and-seek narrative is elevated by strong tension and a well-paced unfolding of events, keeping things engaging rather than repetitive.

I really enjoyed the cast, especially Channing, he brings a certain charm and unpredictability to the role that makes the character oddly compelling.

Overall, it’s a fun and gripping watch that makes the most of its unusual true-story premise.
