Warren Ellis has been one of Nick Cave's infamous Bad Seeds for over thirty years. He has spent the past decades on international stages with his iconic violin and matching beard growth. He is less well-known as one of the initiators of Ellis Park, a shelter for abused and smuggled animals. Not only do the animals find a safe haven there, Ellis himself also finds peace and new sounds in the shelter in Sumatra.

Australian violinist Warren Ellis made his name with "Dirty Three" and later as the regular musical partner of Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds. Ellis's music dominates the soundtrack as he and Kurzel reflect on their career and visit Ellis Park, an animal sanctuary in Sumatra where he is a patron. It's a bit slow, and the music isn't for everyone, but the underlying stories are undoubtedly interesting and worthwhile.

That visit and time with his ancient parents was heavenly beautiful, and especially how he later looked back on it. And Nina Simone's chewing gum also takes on an almost sacred dimension. Oh yes, that armless monkey, Rina. And not to forget how Ellis meets and hugs Femke for the first time. Anyway, too much to mention in this spiritual documentary.
