A decent drama, certainly not an action or crime film. The story is quite interesting and offers a glimpse into the world and mindset of sovereigns. The film is a bit slow but remains engaging enough to hold the viewer's attention. As mentioned, there's no action, except at the end, so don't be misled by the genre designation and the poster. The acting is quite good. 3.0

A subtly crafted drama based on true events, with a superb lead performance by Nick Offerman as a distraught right-wing extremist who finds himself increasingly cornered, with tragic consequences. The portrait it paints of the impoverished underbelly of the United States is poignant and moving, without descending into political nonsense. Director Christian Swegal's filmmaking style is atmospheric and confident, with great attention to detail. The tension is also skillfully built.

A routine highway stop turns into a bloodbath, leaving two police officers dead. This fascinating portrayal of two toxic cultures focuses primarily on Jerry Kane (Nick Offerman), a former roofer who has immersed himself in American law and now gives lectures in which he undermines the legal and economic foundations of society. His son (Jacob Tremblay) is now at an age where he can forge his own path and question his father's beliefs. The other toxic culture is represented by lawman John Bouchart (Dennis Quaid) and his son Adam (Thomas Mann), who is taking his first independent steps as a police officer. Jerry's unwavering belief in his own rhetoric is remarkable, and the police training on the legitimate use of force is shocking. This superbly acted nail-biter also holds up a mirror to Dutch society.
