Pillion plot
Wallflower Colin, whose life is passing him by, meets Ray, president of a motorcycle club. Colin becomes Ray's submissive partner and through him gets to know the fetish world. The parents of the shy, gay Colin [Harry Melling] are delighted when he announces he is in a relationship with Ray [Alexander Skarsgård]. Until they meet him and discover that Colin plays a submissive role in every respect in that relationship. Colin and Ray seem happy with this, but for how long? The many sex scenes make this off-putting for some, but in any case, this is an intelligently written and at times very funny, quirky comedy about the complexities of a sadomasochistic relationship.

A well-thought-out erotic drama film. The cinematography is quite dark. Beautiful music that plays a significant role in the film. Colin meets Ray and becomes his 'submissive'. His parents question this somewhat unusual relationship (do the viewers too?). At times I felt sorry for Colin, but they are still two adults making this choice. I didn't know exactly what to think of it, but I did see the ending coming a little. The film reminded me a bit of Brokeback Mountain, because of the straight actor and the 'gay for pay'.......

At times very good, with a very strong lead duo of Melling and Skarsgaard. A film that does quite a lot right regarding a dangerous theme. Doesn't entirely escape clichés in the script, but shows a lot of compassion for Colin, and it speaks volumes for the film that the ending doesn't show his feelings are gone, but that he has learned to deal with them better.
