Joan Huang dreams of becoming prom queen as the ultimate acceptance into American culture. To achieve this, she pushes herself to the limit and undergoes an experimental surgery that will give her a white skin color. However, her dream turns into a real nightmare.

A variation on The Substance where not old age but race is the subject of surgical intervention. And fair is fair, pretty well done! The acting is fine, as is the overall atmosphere of the film, with a few painful scenes. Although much lower budget than The Substance and with hardly any special effects, this film sometimes has great dark humor as a secret ingredient, like that amazing song during the operation: "It's great to be white". A bit South Park-esque, but entertaining. Recommended.
