Sunfish (& Other Stories on Green Lake) plot
During a summer in Green Lake, Michigan, several characters reach major turning points in their lives. The stories are about: 1) A 14-year-old girl, Lu, is brought to her grandparents’ lake house for her honeymoon by her newlywed mother. Feeling lonely and displaying some serious teenage angst, she becomes interested in sailing on her grandfather’s boat, the Sunfish. 2) Jun, a lonely teen, works her butt off to become “First Chair” at a summer music camp for gifted students. 3) Meanwhile, at the local bar, a fisherman finds an unlikely ally in catching the big fish that will change his life. 4) Finally, two close-knit sisters, Robin and Blue Jay, run a bed-and-breakfast inn while their father works, trying to make their last days of summer worthwhile before Robin leaves for college.
