825 Forest Road plot

Hoping to start a new life after a family tragedy, Chuck Wilson moves with his wife, Maria, and sister, Elizabeth, to the small town of Ashland Falls. But Chuck soon discovers that the town has a dark secret. The ghost of Helen Foster has been terrorizing the town for decades, ever since her suicide in the 1940s. Finding Helen's old house is the key to ending the hauntings, but the address they have doesn't match any existing streets in town. When Chuck realizes that his family is in danger from Helen's wrath, he takes it upon himself to find 825 Forest Road before it's too late.

An indescribably dull horror film with an interesting narrative structure, which unfortunately achieves little with director Stephen Cognetti's lackluster approach. Its roots lie primarily in found footage, where his lack of budget could have been more easily disguised. While those films still possessed some sense of a stable suspense arc, 825 Forest Road prioritizes drama, which is executed anything but well. Clichéd approaches are conveyed by insipid performances, with a few rare moments of horror featuring far-too-visible ghosts. It's difficult to consistently hold your attention to this monstrosity, which only manages to score some bonus points through its unique approach and a handful of atmospheric moments.

After a tragedy, a family buys a house in Ashland Falls at a bargain price, hoping to make a fresh start. However, the house has a history, and soon the family is haunted by all sorts of ghostly happenings, which could be linked to a certain Helen Foster (Diomira Keane) and a search for Forest Road. Cognetti relies on a narrative, and showing the same events from different perspectives is pointless. However, Cognetti does at least regularly manage to evoke a sense of unease, including by using a mannequin.
