Romería plot
Eighteen-year-old Marina lost her parents at a young age and now travels to the coast to meet her paternal grandparents for the first time. A decent atmospheric portrait that just never really comes to life. The young Garcia (with armpit hair, that was actually the most striking thing) acts a bit too flatly for that. that dream scene towards the end doesn't quite work either. But otherwise, things are clearly depicted and told without being given all the information (about the family ties, for example); you have to gather that from the context. That is a bit confusing at the beginning, but it also testifies to the fact that it is cleverly told. 3.0*.

In 2004, 18-year-old Marina [Llúcia Garcia] delves into the backstory of her biological parents, whom she never knew. Based on letters from Carla Simón's mother, read by a voice-over, what she writes is considerably more interesting than the meaningless nonsense we are shown. Given that Simón visually barely distinguishes between the present (2004) and the past (mid-1980s) and also cast Garcia as her mother, this is particularly confusing.
