A good film about a logger who helps build railroads. The film takes you back to life over a century ago. Absolutely beautifully shot, and consistently stunning images of the American Northwest. It's also a good story, but it sometimes sags a bit in the second half.

Great film, only this could be better developed into a long epic of at least 4 hours.

Ultimately, I found that despite the slow pace, the film moved quickly through the life phases of Robert (great name), and I never really got the feeling of any major time jumps. Ultimately, the Robert of the 1960s didn't seem much different to me than the one from 50 years earlier. A different, older actor would have worked better for me. There are also often some great dialogues, but there's another time jump, and those moments don't really simmer down. It stays superficial.

Nevertheless, a nice atmosphere and a beautiful setting. The voiceover tied everything together beautifully.

A unique and beautiful film. Film enthusiast cozy chair wrote a worthy review that beautifully describes this gem, and I fully agree.

A film with beautiful photography without the fancy filmmaking, beautiful music that underscores the scenes. A film that moves you...that resets you. An emotional journey. A treat.
