The Mark of Cain plot

Richard Howard travels to Bordeaux where he falls in love with the young French Sarah Bonheur. Sarah, however, marries his brother John. Years later, Sarah is unhappy in her marriage and Richard tries to convince her to divorce John. When she decides to stay with John, Richard takes revenge by poisoning his brother and tries to frame Sarah for the murder.
