It is incredibly well done how you as a viewer also 'live' towards the moment that the imprisoned fathers come into contact with their daughters. Cinematographically strong. Atmospheric. A bit dreamy and yet raw. The moment that they come into contact with each other is indeed a rollercoaster of conflicting emotions. Also impressive how 'Daughters' (2024) continues to portray the portrayed for years, so that you gain insight into the effects of this method. Sometimes it works out fantastically, but sometimes the bond between father/daughter remains difficult. Ultimately, the bitter feeling remains of the toll it takes on entire African-American communities when people are punished so unreasonably severely.

"If your daddy can't come to the prom, why don't we just have it there?" These words from an innocent girl led to a project that gives incarcerated fathers a unique opportunity to create beautiful memories with their daughters. Director Angela Patton guides the mother and the girls through a classic prom. Chad Morris makes the men aware of their role as role models and the value of this opportunity for everyone involved. The documentary focuses on four fathers and their daughters (ages 5 to 15) as they approach the supreme moment, where you'll definitely want to keep your tissues at the ready.
