"Every Breath Is A Battle"

The life of Najeeb Muhammed, an Indian expatriate who goes missing in Saudi Arabia. Najeeb's dream was to work in the Arab Gulf states and earn enough money to send back home. But he realizes his dream only to be driven into a servile existence by a series of incidents, herding goats in the middle of the Saudi desert. Ultimately, Najeeb devises a dangerous ruse to escape his desert prison.

I don't understand why a social-realist drama like "The Goat Life" (2024) needs so much ugly CGI. The film itself works perfectly as a critique of the exploitation of Indian migrant workers in Saudi Arabia. Just the poignant opening scene, in which two hopeful Indians increasingly realize that no happy future awaits them here, is heartbreaking. Raw. Confrontational. And then at other moments, it goes wild with computer-animated fish, vultures, camels, and snakes. It takes you out of "The Goat Life" (2024) a little more often than it should.
