Where Dragons Live plot

In the crowded English country house Cumnor Place, memories lurk like dragons. When the Impey family has to clear out the house for sale, Harriet Impey tries to fulfill a wish of her late eccentric father. The dragons from his stories, which she tries to capture in words and images, are connected to riddles and fears from the past.

Eccentric scientists Oliver Impey and Jane Mellanby bought the dilapidated Cumnor Place estate after their marriage. They renovated it and raised their children Edward, Matthew, Lawrence and Harriet there. Oliver died on 1 January 2006, Jane on 8 February 2021. Because the children cannot afford the inheritance tax, they decide to sell the house. This means that they have to leave it empty. This documentary follows the children during that process, in which countless memories surface, which makes them see the relationship with their deceased parents in a new perspective. And that also has an impact on their own children and grandchildren who are involved. A sharply illustrated family portrait, but it is difficult to find out what the universal message is.
