Wolne Miasto plot
The true story, supported by archive photos, of the course of the heroic defense of the Gdansk Post Office in 1939. This is preceded by an image of the rise of Nazi terror against the Polish population of the city before the war. The post office employees put up a heroic fight and did not give up.

In terms of films, Gdańsk, or rather Danzig on the eve of the Second World War, is widely known for Die Blechtrommel (1979). This one is a bit more unknown and I rate it higher. Just because of the lack of Oskar's drumming 
The angle in this film is of course completely different. The story is told chronologically at a leisurely pace in old-fashioned black and white. The dialogues alternate nicely in German and Polish. The grand finale in the post office is filmed realistically without fuss and crazy explosions. The parade of the imprisoned Polish postal employees through the streets of Danzig is an impressive ending. In the end they had to give up
