As far as I'm concerned, Dennis Quaid was the best possible actor to film this role. He did it superbly and charismatically. The film itself was quintessentially American and purely patriotic, but it couldn't be otherwise given the subject - biography of a president.

Is a series of historical milestones and encounters. They followed each other a bit too quickly in my opinion. So did Reagan's life story. An attempt to tell everything, perhaps a bit too much in 135 minutes. The film therefore lacked some depth.

What is nice is that at the end of the film, during the credits, you see a series of photos of all the highlights and the film has visually recreated the scenes based on those photos.

There is also some real footage used here and there in the film, which is a nice, albeit minimal, addition.

Film itself I don't find a high flyer, but in the end it is a piece of history and again learned a thing or two. Expect a political biographical feature film, without too much emotion or drama. Nice watch if the topic interests you. 3*

Well, with Nixon, the Republicans embarked on a questionable path. This path was further developed with Reagan. One of the men who pushed the rich's agenda with a smile, undoubtedly too stupid and naive to grasp the full scope of the game. Now Trump presents us with the final piece.

All this criticism is absent from this documentary. Which is understandable, since any self-reflection through the arts is taboo in the United States. While films like "Dangerous Minds" still existed in the '90s, they effectively suppressed this movement. Every now and then, you see a glimpse of the real America, for example, in Nomadland, a few years ago.

Sure, this documentary is decent. Well-made and acted, etc. But it's one-sided and simply unfair. Reagan was a puppet, just like Trump is now being used to carry out Project 2025. We know a lot about this now, and it should have been included in the film. As it is, this documentary is far too kind to Reagan. He's simply a historical villain, even though he himself may not have fully realized what he was doing.
