Pina plot

At the end of the 19th century, in a remote village in the Sicilian countryside, Pina, the baker's daughter, has the power to restore the land. With every harvest, the village is plundered by shameless gangsters. Pina's encounter with the gang leader plunges the hamlet into an era of famine, until the fate of the entire country is changed.

A fairytale story about a young girl who symbolizes the fertility and hope of her village. In doing so, she also becomes, in part, a bird in a gilded cage. Faced with the temptations of the outside world, where she seems to gain freedom, yet it's not what it seems.

The animation resembles the accompanying illustrations in a children's book. This adds a bit more power to the fairytale atmosphere. It's all a bit lighthearted, but engaging enough for its short runtime. A fine animation.
