The title immediately makes it clear where a film like The OctoGames got its inspiration from. Director Aaron Mirtes runs with a commendable idea, into which as little money as possible has been invested. This is spiced up with a lot of eccentric characters and a fast pace, but it will become clear to the viewer relatively early on that not much quality or creativity was involved. Furthermore, the acting is not very strong and the dramatic plot twists are fairly hopeless, but ultimately, the short running time and the long string of events still provide quite enjoyable entertainment.
