El Paraiso plot
Julio Cesar is almost forty and still lives with his mother, a Colombian woman with a compelling personality. They share almost everything: a riverside house full of memories, the little money they earn working for a local drug dealer, a passion for salsa and merengue nights... A life on the margins lived with love, at the same time symbiotic and oppressive, whose precarious balance threatens to be undermined by the arrival of Ines, a young Colombian who has just made her first journey as a cocaine "mule".

40-year-old Julio [Edoardo Pesce] still lives with his Colombian mother [Margarita Rosa de Francisco], who moved to Rome just before his birth. They earn their money by cutting cocaine that is smuggled into the country by Colombian drug swallowers and enjoy a fairly carefree life together. Until Julio is attracted to a young ball swallower [Maria del Rosario]. The first part, in which Artale sketches the life and bond between mother and son, is atmospheric and entertaining. What follows is predictable and quite long-winded.
