"New Shorts To Die For"
Leroy, Reggie and Ceruce Paloni get the opportunity of a lifetime to host an unforgettable Halloween special full of short horror films from a group of up-and-coming animators. In between short films, the Palonis themselves go on a manic Halloween adventure. The stories include a curious children's show starring a melted doll superhero named Plopsie who took an ill-advised dip in the Los Angeles River, a landlord who enters into an elaborate web of deceit with his tenants, the mayor of a small town who spends Halloween outlawed for 50 years after getting scared at a surprise party, a commercial for a high-end underground cannibal restaurant, a quick but funny parody of Beetlejuice, and a story about an alien zombie apocalypse.

Strange and absurdist anthology film in which Halloween is the overlapping theme. Directors Douglas Einar Olsen and Donna Smith don't seem to have to do much to spice things up, as the supporting directors rake in most of the positives for them. In particular, the segments by Jaime Rodríguez (Bet It Was Becca), David Firth (Slaughter Cafe), Lee Hardcastle (An Alien Halloween Claymation) and Ben Bayouth (Plopsie and Friends) stand out very positively and deliver the necessary humor, but actually all the pieces are fun in their own way. Sometimes there is a rare, ugly drawn fragment (The Dreston), but the bar always remains relatively high. It is a pity that the overarching story is written in a rather chaotic manner, despite the ample presence of bloodshed and other spectacle. With a running time of only 62 minutes, The Paloni Show offers a smooth hour of entertainment with plenty of pace, original ideas and fun.
