"Just keep telling yourself...it's only a game."

Ex-detective Nick Mathers tries to catch a serial killer who calls himself The Grand Master. He is a ruthless sadist who kidnaps people, including Nick's daughter, and links their identities to an online chess match. When a piece is captured into play, The Grand Master kills the person associated with that piece.
