The Marsh King's Daughter plot
"Fear the past or face it."
Helena's mother is kidnapped and held hostage by Jacob, aka Marsh King. Helena is then born into this family on which the three live in the jungle. Years later, Jacob is arrested and the young woman, despite her traumas, manages to build a stable life. However, Jacob manages to escape from prison.

Good actors in a predictable slow boring film. By the way, Mendelssohn's wig is ridiculously bad. You will find better ones in the carnival shops. Good try but complete failure....

Mediocre thriller drama. The story is simple but could have been developed better. The film is quite slow and stretched too long to keep your interest. The development of the relationship between daughter and father also does not feel completely comfortable, which means that the film lacks the appropriate emotion for a drama. The finale is predictable and doesn't feel appropriate. In short, a somewhat incoherent film. The acting is otherwise excellent. And visually it is best to enjoy the images shot of beautiful locations. 2.0/2.5
