Strange SF movie in which the air on earth is no longer clean. Because 1 company has found a way to live with a face maker and can therefore determine the price itself, there are of course always opponents. They invent a means that also works but that has slightly more side effects.

Decent acting. Decent story. Great to watch.

A deeply uninteresting mix of action, science fiction, and horror, director Kelsey Egan can't hide the fact that it cost next to nothing. Visually, The Fix is a true disaster (with its bright colors), with the editing (extremely poor and overly simple), the camerawork (boring angles), and especially the world-building lagging far behind. The film's content is utterly unsettling due to the uneven tone and lack of pacing, with the quirkier characters seemingly out of sync with the utterly serious Grace Van Dien. As a viewer, you constantly notice that Egan hasn't experimented at all to get more out of this film, resulting in an incredibly tedious reunion. The focus on colorful environments and unique concepts is somewhat successful, but these are largely buried under the negativity.

The visuals are nice, with beautiful color grading throughout. In any case, it is all visually quite nice and appealing, especially the beginning with the models wrapped in what looks like red toilet paper, as a kind of cheap rip-off of The Fifth Element.

But there is more to the story. Does it hold up? Not if you pay attention to the details, because the claws are occasionally upside down for what the story does with them, and biologically it makes no sense either. But it is entertaining nonetheless. Perhaps more because it is all a bit strange and awkward and unusual, rather than such a difficult word as 'good'.

The fact that the film is presented as South African seems to me primarily a political choice, Trump-pleasing, so to speak. That a few extras come from that country and perhaps some scenes were shot there? Come on, it is all clearly Hollywood from start to finish.
