Geologist Abby [Ella Balinska] decides to abandon her fieldwork in Georgia when her father [Stuart Graham] reports that doctors have advised him to discontinue treatment for his seriously ill other daughter, Beth [Vanessa Ifedioa]. However, the helicopter that was supposed to transport her to Tbilisi crashes. Abby miraculously survives the crash, but now must find her way back to civilization on foot. To her great relief, she manages to contact a man named John [Rob Delaney], who is also in trouble. But can he be trusted? A well-acted, but routinely written thriller drama with too little premise for a feature-length film.

Well, I get the point of the film, but I found the connection between that alien rock and that entity John very awkward. It's not really a sci-fi theme, though it might seem that way, but rather a metaphysical component that's incorporated here. Because a film about learning to let go of a loved one wouldn't have been so compelling otherwise. Now, I certainly didn't consider it a complete failure. The wilderness footage (shot on location in Georgia) is often of immense beauty. And the mystery element kept me from dropping out so quickly. Definitely a film that deserves a chance, even if it's not for a mainstream audience. The project started with a short (The Occupant: Prologue), and it might have been better to build a sci-fi film around it than a drama.
